DREZ
(Abstract Rude / Rocky Dawuni)
DJ Drez is one of the most prominent and influential DJs in the LA
underground hip hop scene. Drez explores boundaries by combining
yesterday's roots with the ingenuity of today's hip hop. Although
Drez is primarily known as a Hip Hop DJ and producer, those who know
him well have experienced his talents for jazz, soul and world music.
From mix tapes to full length albums, Drez has contributed to the
world of music since the early '90s. For the past six years, Drez has
constantly toured throughout the United States, Canada, and Japan. He
performs as both a solo act and as the DJ for the A Team (Abstract
Rude & Aceyalone).
Drez draws his inspiration from a variety of sounds that range from
Hip Hop to Jazz; Roots Reggae to Rare Grooves; local sounds to
World Beat. Drez has worked with The Black Eyed Peas, Bahamadia,
Medusa, The Living Legends, and The Anonymous to name a few.
He has performed at The Smoke Out, Bob Marley Day, Winter Music
Conference, The X Games, Coachella Festival, and Reggae on the River
among other events.
His latest release, Jahta Beat reveals his long time passion for
vibrations from the East. Drez's projects truly reflect his creativity
as he pioneers through universal sound by fusing Jazz, Hip Hop,
and sounds from the East.
