NextAid Kicks Off An Exciting New Initiative!
NextAid is thrilled to announce the launch of our groundbreaking new initiative! In collaboration with Architecture for Humanity and the RAND African First Ladies Initiative, NextAid is helping to bring much needed resources and support to the women and mothers of Africa. The project works closely with select African First Ladies to design and build two Women’s Health Resource Centers. This project, supporting the global movement towards achieving Millennium Development Goal #5 (reduction of maternal mortality), engages grassroots activism, high-level advocacy and creative design to show impact and inspire change. The pilot centers will be in Namibia and Sierra Leone and will serve as models for additional centers in other parts of Africa. NextAid is hosting fundraising benefits in San Francisco in the coming months. Click here for info about our first kid-friendly event coming up on August 7th!

“Send A Child to School” in South Africa
NextAid is working with South African organization loveLife, and their goGogetters program to “Send a Child to School”. The lack of or deprecate condition of a school uniform should not hinder a child from receiving an education, but many children are refused admittance or drop out because of it. Something so simple should not be an adversity that these children face, especially when the solution costs as little as one Friday night dinner. It takes just $50 to provide a child with a complete uniform and an additional $25 for books, both allowing them to face the future with confidence. The amazing women letting these children know that “they still can,” are part of a national social network of grandmothers (gogos), the goGogetters program. They have created a grassroots movement by simply doing what they have always done – care for children who need their love and support.

Youth Skills Training Program in Underway for Kawangware Vision Center, Nairobi
NextAid launches a youth skills training program in Nairobi, Kenya to prepare for the construction of the Kawangware Vision Center. After receiving the necessary funds from NextAid, the Kawangware Street Children & Youth Project began a youth skills training program to manufacture eco-bricks, roof tiles and other construction materials on-site at the Kawangware Vision Center. NextAid has partnered with this inspiring community- based organization to build a multipurpose workshop for their business and youth programs that provide safe and positive opportunities for at-risk youth and orphaned and vulnerable children in their community. Timber Framed Children’s Homes Are Almost Complete!
Through its partnership with Make-Up Designory (MUD) and the sales of their limited-edition eye shadow palette, NextAid was able generate the necessary funds for the construction of two timber-framed children’s homes. We are excited to report that the children’s homes at the Red Rhino Orphanage in Kenya are almost finished! The excellent workmanship and high quality materials have made it so the houses have come out beautifully! Once complete, each home will house up to sixteen children along with a house mother, who will have a small separate room of her own. In addition to providing long-term shelter, the homes will also be a place where the orphans will receive food and any medical needs. Click here to get one of the few eye shadow palettes that are left!
